Butte Community in Knik River Valley
Alaska

Butte is a small community 40 miles northeast of Anchorage, nestled between glaciers, mountains and two wild rivers at the northern-most inlet of the Pacific Ocean

A heart-felt thank you to the men and women volunteers of Butte Fire Department, who successfully brought a 5.3 acre “critical protection fire” under control that occurred near Jim Creek early morning June 30, 2007. Butte FD was joined by Palmer FD and Dept of Forestry. There were approx. 15 spot fires and 3-4 foot flames with light winds initially when the fire crews arrived with brush trucks and tankers. Butte FD truly deserves the utmost gratitude of every home owner.
