Text: On 4/11/08, at approximately 1808 hours, AST was notified that a
sailboat was stolen from a residence near mile 11 of the Old Glenn Hwy,
near Palmer. Investigation revealed that on 4/11/08 between the hours
1600 and 1750 hours an unknown person in a pickup truck drove into the
yard and towed away the boat. The sailboat is a 1980 18' Buccaneer. The
sailboat was shrink wrapped in blue plastic when stolen. The sailboat is
bright yellow and says "Your in Trouble" on the stern and YELLOWJACKET
on the sides. The boat is on a black trailer with an Illinois plate.

Text: On 4/11/2008, approx. 2055 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded
to a report of several subjects in the area, one of which was shooting a
shotgun into the river at the Knik River Public Access area near mile 9
of the Old Glenn Highway in the Palmer/Butte area.  Investigation
revealed that 28 yoa Sean J. McCurdy of Palmer was under the influence
of alcohol while shooting a shotgun in the area and while possessing a
handgun.  McCurdy was issued one USC for MIW4 and released at the scene.

Text: On 3/23/08, at approximately 2150 hours, AST responded to a
reported stolen vehicle that had been found abandoned in the Jim Creek
area near Butte/Palmer. Investigation revealed that the white 2006 Dodge
2500 pickup was reported stolen by APD on 3/21/08. This vehicle had been
greatly damaged prior to AST locating the vehicle and returning it to
it's owner. Anyone with information regarding this stolen vehicle please

Text: On 03/22/08 at approximately 0210 hours Alaska State Troopers were 
told of a possible fight involving a stabbing and shots fired at the Jim 
Creek Pavilion.  Upon arrival, investigation revealed the assault had 
occurred approximately one hour earlier at the Jim Creek/Party Island, 
which is located 3 miles from the Jim Creek Pavilion.  
 
Trooper's contacted nine participants at the Pavilion who were 
attempting to leave the scene and subsequently discovered a second 
victim, Matthew Splawn, age 28 of Fort Richardson.  Splawn was 
transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for a head injury 
sustained from being kicked and punched.  Splawn was treated and later 
released.  While interviewing the nine participants, 4 firearms were 
seized.  
 
Investigation further revealed one stabbing victim, Andrew Alonzo, age 
21 of Chugiak, had been transported by civilian vehicle to Mat-Su 
Regional Medical Center prior to Trooper arrival.  Alonzo was released 
later that morning.  At this time the knife has not been recovered.  
 
Further investigation also revealed that Mitchell R. Lewis, age 19, of 
Fort Richardson when contacted by the troopers in this investigation 
gave false information about not consuming alcohol and about his age.  
Lewis was issued a summons for Minor Consuming Alcohol and released. 
 
Troopers continued to the Party Island area and interviewed 5 additional 
individuals.  All individuals stated alcohol was a key factor during the 
altercation.  Investigation is still ongoing, but has revealed the 
altercation occurred between two large groups from separate campsites.

Text:   On 3/8/08 at approximately 1702 hours, State Troopers responded
to the Old Glenn Highway and the Knik River Bridge, Palmer for the
report of a hit and run motor vehicle collision.  Investigation revealed
that on 3/8/08, between 1500 and 1630 hours, an unknown vehicle collided
with a 2006 Dodge truck belonging to Christopher M. Bean, age 22 of
Wasilla.  Bean's truck was parked at a gravel parking lot at the time of
the collision and the suspect driver fled the scene without reporting
the collision.  Beans' vehicle sustained approximately $2,000.00 dollars
in damage and investigation is continuing.  Any person with information

Text: On 03-01-2008, at approximately 0120 hours, the Alaska State
Troopers received a report of a large juvenile party that involved
alcohol at Knik River Sand Bar by the Knik River Bridge on the Old Glenn
Highway.  Alaska State Troopers issued Summons to the following
individuals for Minor Consuming Alcohol.  Molly Devlin, age 17, of
Peters Creek, Melissa Derouin, age 17, of Eagle River, Desiree Hathaway
, age 15, of Anchorage, Aren Voss, age 20, of Anchorage, and Patrick
Quinn, age 17, of Anchorage.  All the juveniles under the age of 18 were
released to their parents and the other juveniles were released at the
scene.

Text: On 3/1/2008, approx. 0155 hours, Alaska State Troopers stopped a
blue and white 1992 GMC pick up truck near mile 13.5 of the Old Glenn
Highway for equipment violations.  Investigation revealed that 18 yoa
Colton S. Hintsala of Eagle River was operating the vehicle while
intoxicated and under the age of 21.  Two of the passengers, 18 yoa
Kendra L. McAlpin of Chugiak and a 17 yoa Cody A. Kollman, also from
Chugiak, were found to be intoxicated in violation of the 21 yoa
drinking law of Alaska.  Hintsala was arrested and transported to MSPT
where he was held on a total of $300.00 bail for DUI, Minor Operating a
Vehicle after Consuming Alcohol, and Minor Consuming Alcohol, while the
two passengers were each issued a summons for MCA and released to a
sober third party at the scene.

Text: On 10-26-07 at 1454 hours AST responded to a report of a two
vehicle motor vehicle crash near mile 13 Old Glenn Hwy. involving a
pickup and a 4 wheeler.  Investigation revealed that 15 year old Blake
Ish of Palmer was driving down the middle of the Old Glenn Hwy. on his
ATV 4 wheeler when he was struck by a pickup that was headed southbound
on the Old Glenn Hwy.  The pickup was driven by 63 year old Fred
Macdougal of Palmer.  Macdougal and his passenger were wearing their
seatbelts and were not injured.  His vehicle sustained approximately
$2000 damage and was driven from the scene.  Ish was wearing a helmet at
the time of the crash.  Medics responded and transported Ish to Matsu
Regional Hospital where he was admitted with a serious leg injury.  The
4 wheeler received major damage.  Ish was issued a citation for
Operating an ATV on a Roadway.

Text: On 10-12-07 at 1549 hours AST responded to a single vehicle
rollover at mile 8 of the Old Glenn Hwy.  21 year old Thomas Hofmann was
northbound on the Old Glenn Hwy. near mile 8 when he stated that a
vehicle came over the centerline toward him.  Hofmann stated that he was
forced into the ditch where his vehicle rolled.  Hofmann and his three
passengers, including two small children, were wearing seatbelts and/or
in car seats, and no injuries were reported.  The vehicle was pushed
back on its wheels and was driven away with damage estimated at $3,000.
The suspect vehicle that fled the scene was described as a small dark
blue sedan with several teenage male occupants.

Text: On 9-8-07 at approximately 0500 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of a hunter in distress on the Colony Glacier.  Loren
Karro, age 56 of Wasilla, reported that Seth Peterson, age 21 of
Anchorage, was dropped off by airplane on 9-7-07 to goat hunt.  The
weather turned bad with high winds and Peterson called Karro by
satellite phone and stated that his tent had blown down and that he was
soaking wet.  Attempts to remove Peterson by airplane were unsuccessful.
The Alaska State Troopers dispatched Helo 1 to the scene at
approximately 1130 hours.  Peterson was recovered without incident or
injuries and flown to the State Trooper Post in Palmer where he was
reunited with Karro.

Text:  On 9/5/07 at 2222 hrs. Alaska State Troopers and the Rescue
Coordination Center (RCC) were notified of a downed aircraft on Upper
Colony Glacier near Lake George.  RCC located the site and transported
the pilot, Edmund Mahoney, age 61, of Wasilla,  to the Palmer Airport.
The pilot damaged his Piper Super Cub while landing on the glacier.  The
Pilot was not injured.  AST provided transport for the pilot to the
Palmer Post where he had a friend provide transportation to his home.

Text: On 9/5/07, at approximately 2337 hours, William B. Whybark, age 51
of Wasilla called AST to report that his brother-in-law was stuck near
the Knik Glacier.  An investigation revealed Marc V. Hamblen, age 44 of
Woodinville WA; and Craig F. Smith, age 50 of Minneapolis MN left the
Jim Creek area and were traveling to the Knik Glacier on Hamblen's
6-wheeler when it broke down near Meadow Creek.  Hamblen called via his
cell phone and advised he was okay and would attempt to walk out.  RCC
was notified and launched a helecopter to locate the two subjects.  At
about 0600 hours, Hamblin and Smith made it to the Jim Creek Pavilion on
foot and notified Matcom Dispatch that they were okay and did not need
any further assistance.

Glenn Highway in the Butte. Eschenbacher's warrant was for failing to
appear at a hearing on an original charge of DUI/DWLS. Eschenbacher was
remanded to Mat Su Pretrial with three days to serve.

reported that his black 1993 Ford Taurus 4-door sedan had been stolen.
Investigation revealed that on 9/4/2007, approx. 0125 hours, one 14 yoa
male of Butte and one 15 yoa male from Anchorage had stolen the vehicle
from the complainant's yard and attempted to drive to Anchorage.  On
9/4/2007, approx. 0155 hours, Alaska State Troopers located and stopped
the vehicle on the Old Glenn Highway near the intersection with the
Glenn Highway in Butte.  The 14 yoa male was driving the vehicle without
a valid operator's license.  The 14 yoa male was released at the scene
to his parents while the 15 yoa male was arrested and transported to
MSYF in Palmer where he was held without bail.

from the original charge of MICS 6; the other stemming from the original
charge of no motor vehicle insurance. Winterholler was arrested and

operator, identified as William Dooley age 44 of Palmer was found to be 
operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol.  Dooley also had a 
.22 caliber pistol in his possession at the time of the stop.  Dooley 
was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Misconduct 
Involving Weapons 4th degree.  Dooley was remanded to the Mat-Su 
Pretrial Facility and held until released to a sober third party.

Text: On 8-18-07 at approximately 0155 hours the AST SouthCentral DUI 
Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of the Old

The operator was identified as Jessica N. Bonham, age 19, of Anchorage.  
Bonham was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of 
alcohol and was arrested for DUI, Minor Operating After Consuming 
Alcohol, and Minor Consuming Alcohol.  The two passengers in the 
vehicle, Amber E. Burks, age 18, and a 17 year old female, both of 
Anchorage were also found to have consumed alcohol and were issued a 
summons to appear in court for Minor Consuming Alcohol.  Bonham was 
remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was held until 
released to a sober adult third party.

Text: On 8/17/2007, approx. 0240 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a
report of an injured hiker near Pioneer Peak in Butte near Palmer.
Investigation revealed that on 8/16/2007, approx. 1930 hours, 27 yoa
Daniel P. Dryden III was hiking in the mountainous area near pioneer
Peak when during a leap onto a ledge, he broke his lower right leg.  On
8/17/07, approx 0700 hours, Dryden was located by four civilian
volunteer rescuers.  Shortly after, a helicopter rescue crew from the
210th Rescue Squadron Alaska Air National Guard based out of Anchorage
arrived, hoisted Dryden out of the area, and transported him to MSRMC in
Palmer for treatment.

Text:  On 8/6/07 at approximately 0553 hours the Alaska State Troopers
responded to the Old Glenn Highway and Our Road for a report of a motor
vehicle collision.  Investigation revealed Earl Adair, age 54 of Palmer,
was south bound in his 2004 gold Toyota Corolla when he fell asleep and
ran off the road.  Adair reported wearing his seatbelt and was released
at the scene.  Adair's vehicle is estimated to be a total loss.  Further
investigation revealed Adair was impaired by alcohol and subsequently
arrested for DUI.  Adair was transported to MatSu Pretrial where he was
remanded with bail set at $1000.00 cash only.

Text: On 08/04/2007 at approximately 1445 hours, Alaska State Troopers 
received a report of a vehicle fire in the Jim Creek, Knik River Public 
Access Area.  Investigation revealed that an unknown white male adult 
drove to the area of Jim Creek from the "pavilion" near Sullivan Ave, in 
a red pick up truck, stepped out of the vehicle, poured gasoline over it 
and then set it on fire.  The white male adult was seen departing the 
scene in a Jeep Wrangler.  Anyone with information about this incident

Text: On 7/29/07 at approximately 1106 hours, Investigators with the
Alaska State Troopers, while on DNR granted enforcement in the Knik
Public Use Area of the Butte, located a 1982 Chevy pickup with the
driver passed out behind the wheel.  AST contacted the driver and
identified the driver as Christopher E. Rogers, age 27, of Houston.
Investigation revealed that Rogers was in control of the vehicle, was
under the influence of alcohol and had passed out behind the wheel.  A
check with Roger's criminal history revealed Rogers had a conviction for
DUI and a conviction for DUI refusal within the last 10 years.  Rogers
was placed under arrest for Felony DUI.  Roger's vehicle was impounded
for future forfeiture under the Felony DUI laws.  Roger's was
transported to and remanded at MSPT with $5000 cash bail plus CATP.

2005 Ford F-150 that had been stolen from a residence in Anchorage on 
7/17/07. Investigation revealed the vehicle had been driven into the 
waters of Bodenburg Creek near the Knik River in Palmer. The vehicle had 
been shot several times with different caliber firearms and left in 
Bodenburg Creek sometime before 2350 hours on 7/20/07. Anyone with

Text:   On 6/11/07 at approximately 1732 hours, Reona Kobayashi, age 21 of 
Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Japan, contacted State Troopers at AST Palmer post 
to report a theft of camping equipment.  Investigation revealed that between 1645
hours and 1700 hours on 6/11/07, unknown individual's) stole a red hiker's backpack 
with tent, sleeping bag and personal items from a camp site along the Kink River
in Palmer near Jim Creek.  Kobayashi estimated the value of the stolen items 
at $1,000.00.  On 6/12/07 at approximately 1243 hours, State Troopers responded to 
the "Pavilion" located on Sullivan Road, Palmer for the report of a robbery, assault 
and multiple thefts involving Kobayashi.  Investigation revealed that on 6/11/07, 
Kobayashi was contacted by an individual who claimed to know who stole his belongings. 
Kobayashi reported paying the unnamed individual $200.00 for the return of his camping 
gear and was then later assaulted and robbed by the same individual on 6/12/07at 
approximately 1200 hours on the the east side of Jim Creek. Kobayashi reported losing 
approximately $500.00 cash as well as traveler's checks, credit cards and camping 
equipment.  Investigation is continuing, any person with information is asked to contact

Text: On 5/28/07, between 1000 hours and 1500 hours, Troopers 
concentrated on the area of the Old Glenn Hwy between Knik River Bridge 
and Plumbley Road for increased traffic enforcement.  Troopers conducted 
33 citizen contacts, issued 1 summons for Driving with a Suspended

citations.  The citations issued consisted of 2 for passing in a no

Text: On 04/25/2007 at approximately 1920 hours Troopers attempted to 
stop a Chevy Corsica heading south on the Old Glenn Hwy near Bodenburg 
Loop for a traffic violation.  When AST attempted the traffic stop, the 
vehicle immediately accelerated in an attempt to elude.  Troopers lost visual 
of the vehicle shortly after the vehicle failed to yield and stop.  The vehicle was 
located approximately 45 minutes later in the vicinity of Bodenburg Loop.  
The vehicle owner, Jesse Jester, age 43 of Palmer, was contacted a short time later. 
Jester was arrested for driving with a revoked driver's license and for 
failure to stop at the direction of an officer (eluding).  Jester was 
arrested and remanded into Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held on $1500 bail.

responded to a citizen report of a reckless vehicle on the Old Glenn
Highway.  Troopers contacted, Keith R. Olson, age 22, of Palmer in a
1990 Nissan Maxima near mile 15 Old Glenn Highway.  Investigation
revealed Olson had operated the vehicle recklessly and had run at least
one oncoming vehicle off the roadway.  Olson was issued a summons to
appear in Palmer Court and released at the scene.

Text: On 4/21/07 at approximately 0001 hours, Alaska State Troopers 
contacted the driver of a vehicle after it stopped behind the Troopers 
vehicle in the Knik River Public Use Area. The driver of the vehicle was 
identified as Stormy Boylan, age 17. Investigation revealed that Boylan 
was intoxicated and had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.  
Boylan was cited for having an open container of alcohol and was 
subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence, and Minor 
Consuming. Boylan was remanded into the Mat-Su Youth Facility.

Text: On 4/22/2007 at approximately 0252 hours, the AST DUI Enforcement 
Team conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on the Old Glenn Highway and

20 year old Artem M. Valkov of Anchorage was driving under the influence of 
alcohol.  Subsequent investigation revealed there was a AK-47 type

Text: On  4-12-07, at about 1730 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded 
to .3 mile Witherspoon Road in the Butte for a report of a fire.  An 
investigation revealed that a Hitachi Excavator, owned by Roy Brown, age 
56, of Palmer, had been intentionally set on fire.  The Hitachi 
sustained an estimated $80,000.00 in damage.  The State Fire Marshal was 
contacted and responded to the scene.  The case is currently under investigation.

Text: On 4-12-07, at approximately  2106 hours, Alaska State Troopers 
received a report of two lost four wheeler riders from Kimberly 
Bustillos, age 20 of Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that Frank 
Bustillos, age 22 of Wasilla and Joel Gonzales, age 22 of Wasilla left 
the Jim Creek Pavilion for a four wheeler ride out to Knik Glacier. 
Neither of the individuals had any emergency equipment with them and 
were not dressed for cold weather. Bustillos and Gonzales got stuck in a 
swampy area off the trail and were cold and disoriented when they 
contacted Kimberly via cell phone. RCC was contacted at approximately 
2252 hours and an Air Guard helicopter was dispatched to the area. 
Bustillos and Gonzales were located and transported to the Butte 
Airstrip where they were contacted by Alaska State Troopers.  Both 
individuals were cold and hungry but otherwise in good condition with no 
injuries.

Text: On 04-12-07 at approximately 2344 hours, Alaska State Troopers 
responded to an address on Carol Ann Drive in Palmer for the report of 
shots fired at a residence.  Investigation revealed several shots caused 
damage to three vehicles, one of which was parked in the garage.  Two 
shots penetrated through the exterior garage door and one continued 
through the garage and penetrated an interior wall.  Damage is estimated at 
$2500.00.  No one was injured in the incident.  Anyone with information

Text: On 3-25-07, at approximately  2224 hours, Alaska State Troopers 
received a report of an overdue four wheeler rider from Nicole Hartley, 
age 31 of Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that Jeremiah Simmons, age 30 
of Palmer left a residence in Palmer for a four wheeler ride out to 
Metal Creek, Palmer.  Simmons got separated from his friends at 
approximately 1830 hours when they were riding back to Jim Creek in 
Palmer.  An Alaska State Trooper Helicopter (Helo 1) was dispatched to 
the area.  Helo 1 conducted a search of the Metal Creek trails and 
located Simmons approximately one eighth of a mile west of Metal Creek.  
Helo 1  landed and picked up Simmons, who was flown to the Knik River 
Trail Head in Palmer where he was met by Hartley.  Simmons had ran out 
of gas when he got separated from his friends.  Simmons was in good 
condition and did not suffer any injuries

Text:   On 9/13/05, at approximately 2019 hours, Alaska State Troopers 
responded to the report of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle.  
Investigation revealed an 18 year old male was traveling west on the Old 
Glenn Hwy. on his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west 
on the Old Glenn Hwy. near the intersection of Old Glenn Hwy. and 
Virginia Ave.  The bicyclist was transported to Valley Hospital and 
suffered a possible broken arm and other minor injuries.  The vehicle 
was unable to be located and is described as an older white Ford F250 or 
F350 Crew Cab operated by a white male adult.  Anyone with information 
regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Alaska State 
Troopers at 745-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.
